Our Regulation 44 Inspector is a highly-experienced children’s residential home manager obtaining outstanding ratings from Ofsted over many years. The inspector has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Requirements and current Quality Standards. They will use their skill and experience to help you further improve the quality of care and overall performance.
Each inspection will provide a totally impartial and independent report and additional support for your provision. The inspector will suggest positive strategies you can use to promote change.
The focus will be on the Outcomes for Children, quality of care and the ability to meet the needs of the young people you look after. The inspection visit will look at how the home operates on a day to day basis as well as how needs are identified and met. All of this will be measured against children’s home regulations and the inspection framework. Any areas of development will be discussed with the manager with recommendations for improvement. Good practice will always be encouraged, acknowledged and shared.
Monthly visits will be unannounced and some will involve early evening and weekend visits where the inspector can capture the views of different staff and young people, along with obtaining the views of social workers and, if appropriate, family members. The visit will also involve a visual inspection of the building and surrounding environment.
All positive comments, plus any concerns and matters raised by young people, their family, staff and social care representatives will be included in the report where appropriate, with recommendations and advice offered.
A detailed report will be produced which can either be created using your chosen regulation 44 form or one provided by Key2Outstanding. This report will be sent to the home manager or responsible individual who will then share the report with Ofsted.
